The PDC Restorer™ Company was inspired by our working with electrotherapy devices for over forty years. Over the years we have had the pleasure of working with a variety electrotherapy genres such as neuromuscular stimulators (NMES), interferential stimulators (IF), cranial electrotherapy stimulators (CES), and a variety of transcutaneous electric nerve stimulators (TENS). When working with TENS devices we found that many dealt very well with chronic pain but none of them did particularly well with neuropathic pain.
Pulse Direct Current devices have had an abundance of research supporting their effectiveness with chronic non-healing wounds (pressure, diabetic and venous stasis). Although there is much research with pulsed DC devices treating wounds we focused our efforts in using pulsed DC devices with various forms of chronic neuropathic pain. We began to see that the evidence of increased oxygenation the treatments gave to patients with wounds also benefited those patients with neuropathic pain, specifically, diabetic neuropathy patients whose level of blood flow and oxygen to their nerves often is compromised by the disease.
The advent of silver conductive garments has been a bonus in providing a conductive media that surpasses all types of adhesive electrodes that patients have had to endure in the past. Silver conductive garments are easy to don and administer versus cumbersome self-stick electrodes with a short life of a couple of weeks’ worth of use. Just spray the affected area and don the garment of choice: either a sock, glove, knee, or elbow sleeve. The garments can last up to a year if they are properly maintained.
The majority of our conductive garments are ‘dual polarity’ meaning that both the negative (-) and the positive (+) poles are built into the garment and separated by a black non-conductive band in the middle of the garment. This makes patient compliancy with the product much higher. Most patients can don their sock and have it connected with the device in less than a minute.
Silver Conductive Garments available for the PDC Restorer™ Device
In addition to our ever-popular dual polarity universal size socks, we have garments from which to choose to deal with hand pain, elbow, and knee pain as well. We even developed an amputee sleeve to deal with issues such as phantom limb pain. Below are photos of the present line of PDC Restorer garments.
The importance of Sleep and the PDC Restorer™ Nocturnal Treatment
Getting a good night’s sleep is necessary for a healthy body and mind. Sleep affects our immune system, mental alertness, mood, and blood pressure, just to name a few factors in maintaining a healthy body. Some patients with diabetic neuropathy have symptoms of sharp stabbing or burning pain that may be worse at night, making the foot sensitive to touch. Because of this, these patients often have a difficult time of get a restful night of sleep. The PDC Restorer’s™ Program 2 is meant to be a nocturnal treatment and works intermittently on for thirty (30) minutes each hour and off for thirty (30) minutes each hour for a total duration of eight (8) hours. Patients often report that they are able to obtain a good night’s sleep, some saying for the first time in months, to manage their nighttime neuropathy pain.
Pain Syndromes successfully treated with the PDC Restorer™
In addition to chronic pain due to diabetic neuropathy, the PDC Restorer has successfully treated other chronic pain syndromes:
